This Build an Ant Empire upgrades page is the Cash buy order for Roblox Place 78490532994307 by Insect Kingdom studio. Confirmed upgrade directions: colony expansion, extra ant slots, Food Value, ant speed, Egg Luck, and Egg Rolls. Every rank spends Cash, and the next rank costs more than the last. Exact level prices are TBA — read the board. Verified September 30, 2026. Play on Roblox.

The listing already states the goal: “Roll new ants, collect food, earn money, upgrade your colony, and unlock powerful new ants.” Upgrades are how that sentence gets faster. They are not a second game. Ants you placed still make food boxes, you still sell the boxes, and the Queen podium can still take the Cash you just earned. Early notes put a stronger ant, Egg Luck, and Egg Rolls ahead of the Items Shop.

What should I upgrade in the first session?

Start with a worker. The Ant Queen generates an egg, you pay Cash for the ant on the podium, and you place it in the free slot. That ant’s food boxes, sold at the Sell station, are the Cash every later button spends. A first session with no placed ant has nothing to upgrade.

Once boxes are selling, follow the order public notes actually give: a stronger ant when one is affordable, Egg Luck, Egg Rolls, and a Cash reserve that can still clear the podium. Basic colony upgrades come before high-priced items. The $10K speed jelly is the only shop row that can sit beside this list. Leaf at $1M and everything above it waits. Step-by-step opening loop: beginner guide.

Colony upgrade board while ants are placed
  • Do01Place the first ant and sell one load of food boxes
  • Do02Read the Queen podium price and set that amount aside
  • Do03Buy the cheapest Egg Luck rank that leaves the reserve intact
  • Do04Buy the cheapest Egg Rolls rank the same way
  • Do05Fill the slot you have before you price the next slot
  • Do06Put leftover Cash into Food Value or ant speed, whichever button is cheaper for a gain you can see
  • Do07Leave the Items Shop closed except for a spare $10K jelly on a live lap

The curve is the hidden cost

Each upgrade rank raises the cost of the following rank. The first Luck click can be trivial and the tenth can be a session. That is why “cheap early” matters: the discount is the low rank, and it disappears after you buy it. Take the low ranks while your food line is small. Saving them for later means paying the climbed price for the same first step.

Two boards, one currency

Colony upgrades and the Items Shop both take Cash. They are not interchangeable. Luck and Rolls change future eggs. Slots change how many ants work. Food Value changes the sale. Ant speed is a board upgrade whose exact stat (walk speed, produce speed, or both) is TBA — read the tooltip. Shop jellies are timers, and shop potions are one mutation on one ant. Mixing those sentences is how a first session buys Rainbow instead of a second worker.

Where do Egg Luck and Egg Rolls sit in the order?

They sit immediately after “buy a better ant,” and they sit ahead of the shop. Egg Luck improves the chance of a higher-quality ant. Egg Rolls adds rolls or roll chances. Notes do not publish the percent per Luck level, and they do not settle which of the two Rolls phrases is on the button. Buy the rank, read the tooltip, and stop when the next rank would spend the podium reserve.

A stronger ant is still priority 1 because it prints Cash today. Luck and Rolls print Cash later, on eggs you have not bought yet. If the podium is showing a clear upgrade and Luck’s next rank would block that purchase, take the ant. If the podium is a duplicate of what you placed, take Luck or Rolls. Egg-side detail: eggs.

Rolls without reserve is a spectator loop

Extra rolls only help if you can pay for the ant that appears. A Rolls rank that leaves you at zero Cash shows you better offers and then locks them. Pair every Rolls purchase with a reserve sized to the last podium price you saw, and raise that reserve when the offers get more expensive.

Luck is not a drop table

No hatch percents are published for this Place, and Luck’s bonus is part of that gap. A rank that says it helps is still worth buying early. A rank you invent a percent for is not. Species names are the same gap: Common is the confirmed starter rarity, and higher labels stay TBA until they appear on your Queen UI. Do not upgrade toward a named ant this wiki has not verified.

When do I buy another colony slot?

You begin with one colony slot. Further slots cost Cash, and the price rises as the colony expands. A slot is income only after an ant stands in it. An empty slot is a down payment on a worker you have not bought yet. Buy the next slot when every current slot is filled and you either own another ant or can see a podium ant you are about to afford.

Colony expansion appears in the same notes as its own direction, beside slots. If your board shows one button, that button is the purchase. If it shows two, read both tooltips before you assume they are duplicates. This page will not invent a merged formula. Write down the price you actually pay so the next rank’s jump is visible.

More ants multiply the same food line

Each placed ant produces food boxes. Two filled slots are two producers walking that line to the collection station. The Sell station still takes one trip from you. That is why ant speed and a short speed jelly show up later: they shorten your haul, while slots increase what is waiting to be hauled. Neither one helps an empty pad.

Rarity still scales the box. A second Common ant is a real upgrade over an empty slot. A higher-rarity ant in that same slot is the better long-term fill, when the Queen actually offers one. Compare workers on ants without borrowing species names.

Prices climb, so log them

There is no confirmed slot-cost formula and no confirmed maximum slot count. The useful record is the price on the button at the moment you buy. If the next slot costs more than several podium ants you still want, staff what you have and return when Sell trips cover the gap. A guessed payback timer would pretend the food-per-minute figure exists. It does not, on paper.

How do Food Value and ant speed compare?

Food Value is the upgrade that makes food worth more Cash when you sell it. Ant speed is the board upgrade aimed at ants. Both use the same rising Cash curve. Neither has a published per-level table. The way to choose is local: read both buttons, buy the one whose tooltip matches the bottleneck you can see, and check the next Sell trip.

If boxes sit at the collection station because you walk slowly, speed is the bottleneck — either this board upgrade or, for one lap, a jelly from items. If you already clear every box and the Cash still feels small, Food Value is the bottleneck. If the ants themselves are Common starters, neither board row beats a better podium ant.

Jelly speed and board speed are different lines

Normal Speed Jelly is $10K for 1.3x move speed for 5 minutes on the equipped ant. Strong is $100M for 1.6x and 10 minutes. Super is $10T for 2x and 15 minutes. Prismatic is $100Qa for 2.5x and 15 minutes. The board’s ant speed upgrade is not on that list, and its price per rank is TBA. Buy the board rank when it is the smaller, lasting fix. Buy the jelly when you want one timed lap and the $10K (or later, the larger jelly) is surplus.

Food Value stacks with a mutation only as separate factors

A mutation multiplies ant efficiency: 1.35x Leaf up to 5x Starlight. Food Value is its own upgrade. Notes never say those two collapse into one number, and they never say mutations stack with each other. When you estimate a trip, apply one mutation factor and then whatever Food Value the tooltip states. If the tooltip has no figure, skip the estimate and compare two Sell trips instead. Mutation ladder: mutations.

Which upgrades stall the colony?

The stalled pattern is always the same: Cash left the food line and did not come back as more boxes. The buttons that do that most often are a podium you cannot afford after the click, a slot with nobody to stand in it, a shop suffix from a later era, and a mount train that deletes a worker.

Mount training is not an upgrade rank

The Mount Training NPC takes the submitted ant out of production on both success and failure. The ride is only slightly faster than walking, and a teleport already returns you to the colony. That makes the mount a movement toy, not a Cash upgrade. Submit a duplicate after your slots are staffed by ants you are willing to keep. Never submit the ant that just received a mutation potion.

A timed boost is a session, not a rank

Codes, when listed, grant a Cash Boost measured in minutes — the disputed 15-minute row is on codes. Redeem at the start of a selling session so the timer covers haul trips. The boost does not buy a Luck rank by itself and it does not lower the next slot’s price. Spend the boosted Cash with the same order: podium reserve, Luck, Rolls, filled slots, Food Value, speed, then the shop.

If the first session still feels unordered, walk it once on the beginner guide and return here when the board shows real prices to choose between.

What next

Spend the reserve on the Queen podium using eggs, then check what that ant is worth keeping on ants.

When the board is no longer the cheapest button, open items and match the potion to mutations. A selling-session boost lives on codes. The first loop, if you are not there yet: beginner guide.

FAQ

What should I upgrade first in Build an Ant Empire?

A stronger ant from the Queen podium, then Egg Luck and Egg Rolls, while keeping enough Cash to buy the ant on the podium. Slots, Food Value, and ant speed come next. Shop potions come after the food line is stable.

Do upgrade prices go up?

Yes. Each rank costs more than the previous rank. Exact curves for Luck, Rolls, slots, Food Value, and ant speed are TBA — use the number on the board.

How many ant slots do I start with?

One free slot. Extra slots cost Cash, and the price rises as the colony expands. Buy another slot when the ones you have are full.

What is the difference between Egg Luck and Egg Rolls?

Egg Luck raises the chance of a higher-quality ant. Egg Rolls adds rolls or roll chances. Percents and the precise Rolls wording are TBA. Both are early, relatively cheap upgrades.

Is ant speed the same as a speed jelly?

No. Ant speed is a colony upgrade with a rising Cash cost. Speed jellies are one-time Items Shop buffs (1.3x for 5 minutes at $10K, up to 2.5x for 15 minutes at $100Qa) on the equipped ant.

Should I train an ant as a mount instead of upgrading?

Training removes that ant from food production whether it succeeds or fails, and the ride is only slightly faster than walking. Keep producers in slots. Train a spare later.

When do I buy mutation potions?

After Luck, Rolls, filled slots, and a keeper ant. Leaf is $1M at 1.35x. Starlight is $5.1Qi at 5x. High potions belong on high-rarity ants you will keep.
