Colony slots and workers producing food boxes.

~12 min read

At A Glance

Build an Ant Empire ants are the workers of Place 78490532994307 (Build An Ant Empire by Insect Kingdom studio). You buy one from the Ant Queen’s egg podium, you place it in a colony slot, and it produces food boxes at the collection station. You sell those boxes for Cash. Rarity is the public shortcut for how strong that production is: a Common is the documented starter, and higher rarities are described as more valuable. The catalog of species names, base rates, and every rarity label above Common is not published. This page will not fill the gap with names from another game.

You begin with one slot. Further slots cost Cash, and the cost rises. A mutation potion can multiply one ant from 1.35x (Leaf) up to 5x (Starlight), and those potions belong on a high-rarity ant you will keep. Handing any ant to the Mount NPC takes it out of production whether training works or not. Verified September 30, 2026. Play on Roblox.

What does a placed ant actually produce?

A placed ant produces food. The food arrives as boxes at the collection station. You carry the boxes to the Sell station, and that sell is Cash. The ant is both the production unit and the thing you are collecting: rarer ants are the long-term prize, and the Common in slot one is how the prize gets funded. An ant that is not in a slot is not on this production line. Buying it at the Queen is step one. Placing it is step two. Skipping step two is an empty colony with an unplaced ant.

Public notes tie production value to rarity. They do not publish a per-ant number, a food-per-minute table, or a guarantee that move speed raises box rate. Ant speed exists as its own upgrade. Speed jellies exist as timed move-speed items (1.3x for 5 minutes at the cheap end, up to 2.5x for 15 minutes at Prismatic). Use those as movement tools. Use Food Value when you want the sell itself to pay more. Do not multiply three unpublished formulas together and call it a build.

You are the hauler

The ant’s job ends at the box. Your job is the walk to Sell. A teleport-home control gets you back to the colony when you are lost. It does not complete a sale. Learning that walk on a single Common is the whole beginner session, written up as a route on the beginner guide.

Cash returns to the Queen

Cash from sells buys the next ant, the next slot, Egg Luck, Egg Rolls, Food Value, ant speed, colony expansion, and, much later, shop items. Egg Luck is the lever for better rarity. Egg Rolls is the lever for more roll chances. Both matter more to a new roster than a 1.35x potion. The Queen’s side of that purchase is eggs.

Which ant names are published, and which stay TBA?

Almost none of the species names are published in a source this wiki will repeat. The field we can fill is the role, plus the one rarity word that shows up in starter descriptions: Common. Proper names, icons, base efficiency, and “best in slot” wait on a verified HUD capture. Until that capture exists, the name column says TBA.

Species names from other Roblox pet games do not belong in this table. If a list cannot cite Place 78490532994307 or the in-game HUD, it is a different roster. A tier list that ranks invented species is the same gap with letters painted on it. If your HUD shows a name, that name is real for your session. It enters this table only after it is verified, which has not happened for a full roster as of September 30, 2026.

How to read this table

Each row is a job, not a species. There is no icon column because there is no official icon pack and no verified portrait set. When a real name is confirmed, it replaces TBA in that cell and gets its own page. Until then, sort your colony by the rarity text on the HUD and by whether you are willing to keep the ant. The wiki hub is the index of these system pages, not a hidden bestiary.

What “higher rarity” is allowed to mean

Guides say a higher rarity usually produces more valuable food. They do not give the ladder (the word Rare is an example people reach for, and this page will not promote it to fact). They do not give percents. Egg Luck is still worth buying because its entire purpose is “better ants more often,” even while the math is hidden. Trust the HUD rarity tag over a fan ranking.

The next section is the slot that tag sits in, because a great ant with nowhere to stand produces nothing.

How do slots and rarity change the colony?

Slots are how many ants can work at once. You start with one. Each extra slot is a Cash purchase, and the price goes up as the colony expands. The count of slots at the cap, and the price of slot two, are both unpublished. What is published is the shape: more slots, more simultaneous producers, rising cost. A slot with no ant in it is a hole you already paid for, or the free hole you have not used. Fill it.

Rarity and slots multiply as ideas, not as a formula we can print. One high-rarity ant in the free slot beats a row of empty pads. Two decent ants beat one Common once the second slot’s price is something a few sell trips cover. A mutation multiplier sits on top of a single ant, so it cares which body you picked, not how many pads you own. Buy the pad when you have an ant waiting. Buy the ant when you have a pad waiting. Buying Starlight because the shop is pretty does neither.

Rising prices are the brake

Every upgrade in this game, slots included, costs more at the next rank. Public notes say to keep the economy stable before you buy items. Translated: if the next slot would zero your Cash and leave you unable to buy the ant that should stand on it, you are early for that slot. Egg Luck and Egg Rolls are the cheap-leaning long-term pair in those same notes. Their prices also rise. Read the number, do not memorize one from a week-old screenshot.

Colony expansion is its own upgrade

Beside slots, Food Value, and ant speed, the notes list colony expansion as a Cash upgrade. What each rank changes on the map is not fully specified, so this page names it and stops. If the button is on your HUD, the price beside it is the real price. The ordered pass at all of these levers is upgrades.

Which mutation belongs on a keeper ant?

Mutations are multipliers you paint onto an ant with a one-time potion from the Items Shop, the shop public notes place near the middle of the map. The multiplier is the reason to care. The price is the reason to wait. A high potion on a low-rarity ant you are about to replace is the expensive way to learn Removal.

Apply potions only to a high-rarity ant you have decided to keep in a slot. “High rarity” here means the best label your HUD currently offers and that you are not willing to mount-train or toss. Common is the starter label. It is a weak potion target. The six multipliers below are the full published set. Whether they stack, whether a stronger potion overwrites a weaker one, and whether a potion can fail are all unpublished. Mutation Removal at $100K is the documented eraser.

MutationMultiplierPotion priceKeeper rule
Leaf1.35x$1MFirst potion, and only on an ant you will keep
Bubblegum1.75x$5MSame keeper, after Leaf is cheap to you

Rainbow2.25x$100BHigh rarity only
Petal3x$500THigh rarity only
Starlight5x$5.1QiThe ant you will not replace
RemovalClears the mutation$100KUndo a mistake; it does not refund the potion

Removal is cheaper than the next potion and still not free

$100K to strip a mutation is a rounding error next to Starlight and a real bill next to your first hour of sells. It does not give the Leaf potion back. It does not pull an ant out of mount training. Use it when you put a multiplier on the wrong body and that body is still a worker. Then stop experimenting until the keeper is obvious.

Jellies are not mutations

Normal, Strong, Super, and Prismatic Speed Jelly are timed move-speed items at $10K, $100M, $10T, and $100Qa. They are not a rarity and they are not a 5x production aura. The mutation page is the longer version of the table above: mutations. The price list with jelly durations sits with items: items.

When does an ant stop being a worker?

An ant stops producing when it is not in a slot. The dramatic version is the Mount NPC. You submit an ant for mount training. The training can succeed or fail. Either result takes that ant off the production line. The mount, if you get one, moves only slightly faster than walking. A teleport-home control already covers “I need to be back at the colony.” Mounts are a collection flavor you buy with a worker’s career.

So the worker stays a worker while it is the best ant you own, while it is your only ant, and while it is wearing a mutation you paid for. A spare you have already replaced is the first honest mount candidate, and even then the success rate is TBA. There is no published way to turn the mount back into the old worker.

A keeper checklist before you touch the NPC

The slot is full of a different ant that still makes boxes. The ant you are submitting is not your highest rarity. It is not wearing Leaf or anything above Leaf. You can afford the Queen’s next offer without the Cash you are about to stop earning from this body. If any line fails, walk away. Teleport home. Sell another box.

Codes do not restock a lost worker

wnus13 is a listed 15-minute Cash Boost, disputed by Destructoid’s September 30 empty list. It does not spawn an ant, and it does not reverse a mount submit. Expired strings xn287hx and nuwnxx2 do not either. Income replacement is the Queen, funded by whatever workers you still have placed. Redeem rules, if you still want the timer, are on how to redeem codes.

When a verified species list exists, this page grows rows with real names in the name column. Until that day, play the roles in the table, read rarity off the HUD, and keep Starlight in the shop.

What next

Run the first placement on the beginner guide if the free slot is still empty.

Spend the next Cash on Egg Luck and Egg Rolls via eggs and upgrades before you open Leaf.

Match a potion to a keeper on mutations, using prices from items.

A Cash Boost is optional and disputed. Check codes once at session start, then go back to selling boxes.

FAQ

What ants are in Build an Ant Empire?

The full species list is unpublished as of September 30, 2026. Public notes name Common as the Queen’s starter rarity and say higher rarities produce more. This page marks every species name TBA.

How many ants can I place?

You start with one slot. Extra slots cost Cash and the price rises. The slot cap and the exact prices are TBA. An ant produces only while it is in a slot.

What is the best mutation for an ant?

Starlight is 5x and costs $5.1Qi. It belongs on a high-rarity ant you will keep. Leaf is 1.35x at $1M and is the first potion, still only on a keeper. Do not potion a Common you plan to replace.

Do mutation potions stack?

Not published. Removal ($100K) is the documented way to clear a mutation. Do not assume a second potion stacks or overwrites until the HUD shows it.

Can I get my ant back after mount training?

Public notes say the submitted ant leaves production whether training succeeds or fails. Mounts are only slightly faster than walking, and teleport home already exists.

Where do ants come from?

The Ant Queen’s egg podium. You buy the ant she offers and place it. Egg Luck and Egg Rolls are the upgrades aimed at better and more frequent rolls. Odds are TBA.
